From Grass Valley / Nevada City
South on Hwy-49, through Auburn to Placerville. Stay on Hwy-49 South to Plymouth. About 4 miles past Plymouth, Hwy-49 turns left to Sutter Creek. Go 8 miles, and as you come onto Main Street in Sutter Creek, the Hanford House is on the right.

From Sacramento Hwy-50, take Hwy-16 to Hwy-49 then Hwy-49 South to Sutter Creek.From Stockton Hwy-99, take Hwy-88 to Hwy-49 then Hwy-49 North to Sutter Creek. The following are detailed instructions from various locations within Northern California and Nevada.

From North Bay (San Francisco, Berkeley, etc.)
From San Francisco, take Bay Bridge east to Berkeley. From Berkeley, take I-80 east to Sacramento (50 - 60 miles). In Sacramento, follow the South Lake Tahoe signs to Hwy-50. Stay in left-hand lanes following Hwy-50 toward South Lake Tahoe. Go 2 to 3 miles after joining Hwy-50 (past the Fresno turn off), and take Hwy-16 exit to Jackson at Power Inn Road. Turn right on Power Inn Road, and immediately move to the far-left lane to make a left turn at the traffic light onto Folsom Blvd., still on Hwy-16 toward Jackson. Continue about 1 mile, turn right on Jackson Highway, Hwy-16. Follow the road about 30 miles to intersection with Hw-49. Turn right on Hwy-49 to Sutter Creak/Jackson. Go 6 miles, through Dry Town and Amador City. Come down the hill into the main street of Sutter Creek. The Hanford House is on the right.

From South Bay (San Jose)
I-880 North to Hayward then Hwy-238 East and join I-580 East to Livermore. Or: Take I-680 North To Pleasanton and join I-580 East to Livermore. Take I-580 East to Livermore and on to Tracy. Before Tracy stay straight on I-205 to Tracy and Stockton. After Tracy join I-5 North to Stockton (16 miles), then east on Hwy-4 (Downtown Stockton) to Hwy-99. Go north on Hwy-99 1 mile, then east on Hwy-88 to Jackson. Follow Hwy-88 through Lockeford and Clements. 2 miles past Clements, make a left turn, still on Hwy-88, to Jackson. Follow Hwy-88 about 20 miles. About 5 miles past the Ione turn off, look for the Sutter Creek left turn sign at a railroad crossing and follow it 2 miles to Hwy-49 (the only traffic signal in Amador county). Turn left on Hwy-49 to Sutter Creek, 1 mile. Go through the town, turning left into the Hanford House parking lot as you leave Main Street.

From the San Francisco Peninsula (San Mateo, Los Gatos, etc.)
Take the San Mateo Bridge East to Hayward. Take I-880 North to Hayward, then Hwy-238 East joining I-580 East to Livermore. Take I-580 East to Livermore and on to Tracy. Before Tracy stay straight on I-205 to Tracy and Stockton. After Tracy join I-5 North to Stockton (16 miles), then east on Hwy-4 (Downtown Stockton) to Hwy-99. South on Hwy-121 (or Hwy-29) about 5 miles to Jameson Canyon (Hwy-12), and continue east to I-80. Go east on I-80 to Sacramento about 40 miles. In Sacramento, follow the "South Lake Tahoe" signs to Hwy-50. Stay in left hand lanes and take Hwy-50 toward South Lake Tahoe. Go 2 to 3 miles after joining Hwy-50, and take Hwy-16 exit to Jackson at Power Inn Road. Turn right on Power Inn Road, and immediately move to the far-left lane to make a left turn at the traffic light onto Folsom Blvd., still on H16 towards Jackson. Continue about 1 mile, turn right on Jackson Highway (Hwy-16). Follow Hwy-16 about 30 miles to intersection with Hwy-49. Turn right on Hwy-49 to Sutter Creak/Jackson. Go 6 miles through Dry Town & Amador City. Come down the hill into the main street of Sutter Creek. The Hanford House is on the right.

From Sonoma
East on Hwy-12 (South on Broadway) and join with Hwy-121. Continue east to Hwy-29, then south about 3 miles to Jameson Canyon (Hwy-12), and continue east to I-80. Turn east on I-80 to Sacramento, about 40 miles. From Hwy-50 eastbound, exit right on Power Inn Road, and immediately move to the far left lane to make a left turn at the traffic light onto Folsom Blvd., still on Hwy-16 toward Jackson. Continue about 1 mile, turn right on Jackson Highway (Hwy-16). Follow the road about 30 miles to intersection with Hwy-49. Turn right on Hwy-49 to Sutter Creak/Jackson. Go 6 miles through Dry Town and Amador City. Come down the hill into the main street of Sutter Creek. The Hanford House is on the right.

From Santa Rosa
South on Hwy-101 to Petaluma, then east on Hwy-116 toward Sonoma. Go about 10 miles, then right on Hwy-121 for 1 mile, and east on Hwy-12 toward Napa. Merge with Hwy-29 south for about 2 miles, then exit east on Jameson Canyon to I-80. Turn East on I-80 to Sacramento, about 40 miles. In Sacramento, follow the "South Lake Tahoe" signs to Hwy-50. Stay in left-hand lanes and take Hwy-50 toward South Lake Tahoe. Go 2 to 3 miles after joining Hwy-50, and take Hwy-16 exit to Jackson at Power Inn Road. From Guerneville
East on Hwy-116, through Sebastopol to Hwy-101. South on Hwy-101 to Petaluma, then east on Hwy-116 toward Sonoma. Go about 10 miles, then right on Hwy-121 for 1 mile, and east on Hwy-12 towards Napa. Merge with Hwy-29 south for about 2 miles, then exit east on Jameson Canyon to I-80. East on I-80 to Sacramento, about 40 miles. In Sacramento, follow the "South Lake Tahoe" signs to Hwy-50. From Sonora/Columbia/Angles Camp
North on Hwy-49 toward Jackson. (Note: Hwy-49 turns right 1 mile past San Andreas.) In Jackson, stay on Hwy-49 and continue 4 miles to Sutter Creek. Go through the town, making the left turn into the Hanford House parking lot as you leave Main Street.

From Valley Springs
Take Hwy-12 East to Hwy-49 (approx. 8 miles). Turn left onto Hwy-49 and head north to Jackson. (approx. 16 miles). In Jackson, stay on Hwy-49 and continue 4 miles to Sutter Creek. Go through the town, turning left into the Hanford House parking lot as you leave Main Street.

From Yosemite (104 miles)
Exit the park on the North Entrance (Hwy-120) through Buck Meadows to Groveland (32 miles from park entrance). Just past Groveland join Hwy-49 north to Jamestown, and on to Sonora (20 miles). In Sonora, continue north on Hwy-49 (this is a left turn onto the main street of Sonora) to Angles Camp (18 miles). A side trip to Columbia State Park might be of interest. Continue north on Hwy-49 to San Andreas (13 miles), then Jackson (17 miles). Note: Hwy-49 turns right 1 mile north of San Andreas. In Jackson, stay on Hwy-49 and continue to Sutter Creek (4 miles). Go through the town, making a left turn into the Hanford House parking lot as you leave Main Street.

From Truckee

From Reno / Sparks / Carson City
South on Hwy-395 to Minden, then west on Hwy-88 over Carson Pass (in winter, check road conditions first: 800-427-ROAD, then enter highway # for conditions - e.g., "88 & #x201D;). Continue east on Hwy-88 through Pioneer to Pine Grove. As you exit Pine Grove, turn right on Ridge Road, following the Sutter Creek sign. After approx. 4 miles, Ridge Road makes another right turn at a 'T' junction. Turn Right and continue another 6 miles to the traffic signals at the junction of Hwy-49. Turn Right on Hwy-49 to Sutter Creek, 1 mile. Go through the town, making a left turn into the Hanford House parking lot as you leave Main Street.

From San Francisco Airport (138 miles)
Exit airport onto Hwy-101 South toward San Jose (8 miles). Turn east onto Hwy-92, crossing the San Mateo Bridge to Hayward (13 miles). Turn North on H880 toward Oakland (4 miles). Turn East on Hwy-238 (2 miles), continuing onto I-580 East to Livermore and then Tracy (33 miles). Before Tracy stay straight on I-205 and join I-5 North (15 miles). Continue North to Stockton (16 miles). Turn East on Hwy-4 (Downtown Stockton) to Hwy-99 (4 miles). Go North on Hwy-99 (1 mile), then East on Hwy-88 toward Jackson. Follow Hwy-88 through Lockeford (16 miles) and Clements (7 miles). 2 miles past Clements, make a left turn, still on Hwy-88, toward Jackson.
